SOBER CHAMPION: OUR WORK ETHIC

Sober Coaching is a short-term or long-term professional relationship that helps people who are considering recovery from alcohol or drug abuse to produce extraordinary results in their personal lives, artistic endeavors, careers, and/or communities.

One core value at Sober Champion is that there is innate health and wellness in each of our clients. We know our clients are creative and resourceful. We do not promote or endorse any single or particular way of achieving or maintaining sobriety, abstinence, or serenity or of reducing suffering from alcohol or drug abuse.

A Sober Coach can help you determine your trajectory, and can make sure you stay out of trouble while you do so.

We do not believe that every person who drinks or uses to excess is an alcoholic or an addict. These terms are thrown around from the schoolyard to the mass media, and are misunderstood more often than not. An addict is a man or woman whose life is controlled by drugs; these are people caught in the grips of a life-threatening illness. However, there are many people whose underlying causes and conditions lead them to misuse alcohol, prescription drugs, and even street drugs – but who are not addicts in the common sense of the word.

Sober Coaches from Sober Champion focus on helping our clients to create and sustain great and meaningful lives.

Every Sober Coach and every Sober Companion who works with us is a passionate, experienced, dedicated professional with at least five years of continuous abstinence from all mood and mind altering chemicals.

Part of our duty is to listen, to observe, and to customize our approach to each client’s needs. What works for the late adolescent trying to stay abstinent to improve his chances of getting into a good school probably will not work for the high-stress, high-profile professional executive or artist who needs to get his career back on track.

We regularly and vigorously help clients resolve ambivalence, increase confidence and motivation, and use a strengths-based approach to maintaining abstinence from alcohol or drugs.
